Taylor Port
36” x 36”
Oil on Canvas
Artist Thoughts: I have always wanted to create this painting. I bought this exact bottle of 1960 Taylor Port when I was about 30. The date is my birthday. I saved it to drink when I turned 50 - It Was Great! I always wanted to paint this, and yes I really had a whole box of corks.
It was a challenge, but one that I was determined to tackle. I wanted to capture the essence of the bottle, the rich color of the port, and the texture and shape of the corks. And finally, after many hours of work, I had created the painting I had always dreamed of.
It was a reminder to me that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. Sometimes, it takes years to achieve your dreams, but when you finally do, it's worth it. And in my case, I not only achieved my dream of painting this still life, but I also got to enjoy a delicious bottle of port along the way.
Award Winning Painting: Honorable Mention in the Food For Thought show at the Round Rock, Texas Downtowner Gallery.
