Stagecoach Pass

Artist Thought: Getting an early morning start. The powerful horses pull the stagecoach at a trot to get the passengers to the next town on schedule, or perhaps to deliver the trunks of gold and silver to the bank. The bodyguard is “Riding Shotgun” to protect the valuables of the stagecoach and keeping a sharp eye out for hostile Indians and bandits.

The phrase “Riding Shotgun” came from this description of the bodyguard who rides alongside the stagecoach driver.
