Below you we see the various stages of my painting as I go through the process of creating this piece. I also will provide comments and my thoughts during a particular stage. If you are a fellow artist, and you have any questions and/or comments, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.
A Beautiful Day at Chisholm Trail Park
Round Rock, Texas
24″ x 24″ Oil on Panel
This park is one of my favorite parks to paint. It’s small, but offers so many different views and subjects.
This painting is larger than I usually paint in size, but I felt that it just works and had to be larger than normal. This will make a beautiful painting on someone’s wall for sure.
Just starting the underpainting. The underpainting is one of the most critical stages of my painting style. Although most of it is going to be covered with fine details, it establishes the mid-tones and basic shapes.
With the underpainting completed, I completed the sky and began working on the distant trees and the trees on the right side. The plan is to complete the trees and grass on the right before moving to the left side trees.
