Welcome to one of my favorite pages!

Below you we see the various stages of my painting as I go through the process of creating this piece. I also will provide comments and my thoughts during a particular stage. If you are a fellow artist, and you have any questions and/or comments, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.

Chisholm Trail Park Waterfall
9 x 12 Oil on Panel

This is my favorite park to paint. The waterfall looks so beautiful this morning. I love the way the water flows over the edge and turns up at the bottom, just before it shimmers downstream to the next adventure. There was a very light mist almost fog like at the bottom’s edge that I just had to catch in the painting.

Stage 1

Underpainting is complete with mid-tones established. I will begin working on the glazes for the distant trees, and adding the various colors of greens for the leaves.

Stage 2

Applied the dark glazes to the trees. Will now begin to add the various colors of greens for the leaves.

Stage 3

Working on the trees for a couple of days now. I still have more work to do on them before moving to the water. I will more than likely complete the greenery and rocks before doing the water.

Stage 4

Completed the rocks, and did more work on the trees. I am not done with the trees yet. I need to add more sky to the top of the trees. I started working on the water, working from back to front. As you can see, I am currently working on the waterfalls.
